Role Overview
As a Registered Nurse in our Hemodialysis Unit, you will play an essential role in delivering top-tier, compassionate care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Your contributions will be vital to the multidisciplinary healthcare team as you oversee every aspect of patient care, from assessment and planning to implementation and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver holistic, patient-focused care, addressing both the physical and emotional needs of dialysis patients
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and create tailored care plans
- Work in collaboration with a diverse healthcare team to ensure compassionate, culturally sensitive care
- Implement infection prevention and control practices
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient conditions during dialysis
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and provide discharge instructions
- Adhere to Osler policies and the College of Nurses of Ontario’s professional standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience; 1 year of recent hemodialysis experience required
- Nephrology certificate (or proof of enrollment) to be completed within 18 months of hire
- Familiarity with Nephrology Nursing Standards and guidelines from the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists
- Active registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS certification
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Demonstrated leadership and teaching abilities
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
Work Schedule
- Days and evenings, 8 and 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Occasional travel between Osler sites may be required
